Weekend in the Word

Hey Reader,

As we prepare to step into February, the month when conversations about love fill the air, I’ve been reflecting on something tender and true:

If I could tell my younger self the truth about God’s love, this is what I’d say…

God’s love is constant.

It wasn’t until I became an adult that I really understood what that meant. I grew up hearing verses like, “He will never leave you nor forsake you,” (Deuteronomy 31:6 ) but if I’m honest, they felt more like memory verses than reflections of the character of my Creator.

But now? Now I see it.

To say God’s love is constant is to say that it doesn’t shift with mood, distance, or time. It’s steady. Dependable. Present. Unchanging. Faithful. In the heartbreak and the healing. In the joy and the waiting. In every moment of uncertainty, His love hasn’t wavered—and it never will.

I've had to hold onto these truths during heartbreaking seasons and times of deep uncertainty. When I didn't know what was next. When I felt alone. When I questioned if I'd heard Him correctly. In those moments, I came back to this:

Scripture says, "The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness."(Lamentations 3:22).

That Hebrew word for “steadfast love” is chesed (or hesed)—a love that is loyal, covenantal, and unwavering. It’s not based on how we feel. It’s based on who He is.

It's the kind of love that doesn't give up. That stays. That pursues.

When the Bible says God's chesed never ceases, it's telling us that His love isn't just an emotion, it's a commitment. It's woven into His very nature. He cannot not love you. It would be like asking the sun not to shine.

This is the love that called you by name before you were born (Isaiah 43:1). The love that knit you together in your mother's womb (Psalm 139:13). The love that sent Jesus to bridge the gap between us and God (John 3:16). The love that will never let you go (Romans 8:38-39).

Reader, if I could sit across from my younger self and speak truth into her heart, I’d whisper:

"Because God's love is constant, it sets the standard for how to be loved—and how to love."

So, as you move into the weekend, I want to gently invite you to spend time in the Word with the most constant person you will ever know, Jesus.

Let His love speak for itself through the pages of Scripture.

Because the more you encounter His love, the more you’ll see that He’s never left. Not once. Not ever.

P.S. If you’re needing help knowing where to begin, I’ve got a recent teaching that’s perfect for this moment. It will encourage you in finding your own rhythm in the Word—without pressure, just presence. Watch it here.

Hey Reader, These Weekend in the Word emails are just as much for me as they are for you. As I prepare them, they help me reset my heart, quiet the noise, and sit with Jesus in a way the week rarely allows. Lately, I've been thinking about a question I've returned to often, What would I tell my younger self about God's love? This weekend, my answer is simple. I would tell her not to skip the parts of Scripture that feel uncomfortable or confusing, especially the ones that seem intimidating....

Hey Reader, I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the role community plays in spiritual growth, especially in seasons when God is stretching us, calling us forward, and inviting us to grow in ways we didn’t even realize we needed. For the past few years, I’ve been part of an online community that has deeply impacted my life and calling. Every person in that space is a believer, but more than that, they are believers actively responding to God’s call through writing, leadership, business...

Hey Reader, Welcome to our final week of Do Whatever He Says. Over the past two weeks, we’ve watched Jesus move in powerful ways. In Week 1, we saw how simple obedience positioned the servants for a miracle. In Week 2, we were reminded that our role is not to create the miracle, but to faithfully do what Jesus asks and trust Him with the results. Now, in this final week, we pause at the outcome. Keep reading to see what this final moment reveals and how God may be calling you to take your...
