Hey Reader, “He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside quiet waters. He restores my soul.”—Psalm 23:2–3 He restores my soul. Words from scripture that I’ve quoted since I was a little girl in Sunday school. Words that I've learned are so true, real, and powerful. But now, as an adult, I read them with fresh eyes. I realize that the Lord created me to be restored. Not just held together, not just surviving—but brought back to wholeness. However, that kind of restoration requires something from me. A pause. A resting and a quieting. Yes, He meets me in the middle of the chaos. But when it comes to restoring my soul, He invites me to something deeper. Not while I’m rushing through errands or juggling responsibilities, but in stillness. In silence. In surrender. My soul is my mind, my will, and my emotions. What I think. What I want. What I feel. And it’s in quiet and intentional rest that God rebuilds each of those places—the very places that are most weary and in need. But it doesn’t happen without me. He makes me… He leads me… Lately, I’ve been meditating on that word: restore. It’s more than comfort language. It’s a holy promise, packed with power. The word restore is made up of two parts:
So to re‑store means to set back in place, to build again, to return something to its rightful condition. God doesn’t just patch us up. He brings us back—to peace, to purpose, to a soul aligned with Him. He re-anchors what has drifted. He rebuilds what has broken. He reaffirms what weariness made us forget. Reader, what if you let “restore” become more than a word—what if you let it become your posture this weekend?
You don’t have to bring your perfect self. Just bring your honest one. He’ll do the restoring. He will re‑store you. With you in the quiet, P.S. If part of being restored means moving out of spiritual stagnancy in your relationship with God, I invite you to enjoy the latest YouTube video. Hey Reader, October might just be my favorite month. The leaves are changing, fall flavors are everywhere, and it’s full of cozy vibes. But for me, it’s extra special because it holds two of my favorite dates: my anniversary and my birthday. This week, Willie and I celebrate 14 years of marriage. Yes, fourteen. That’s more than a decade of love, laughter, tears, apologies, inside jokes, “What do you want for dinner?” debates, and learning that somehow socks still don’t walk themselves to the...
Hey Reader, We’ve come to the final part of Well Encounters, and I believe this last devotional might be the most exciting of all. So often we stop at the encounter. We meet Jesus, feel refreshed, and quietly hold that moment close. But what if your encounter is meant to overflow into someone else’s transformation? This week, we look at how one woman’s shame-filled past became the spark for a powerful testimony. She left her water jar behind and ran into purpose. The same can be true for you....
Hey Reader, Summer may have officially ended on the calendar, but that doesn’t mean the rhythm of rest has to leave with it. In fact, as the pace of life picks back up, this is when we need the pause even more. Here’s the truth: others may not say it out loud, but they can see your weariness just like you feel it. And God? He sees it too. That’s why He created rhythms of pause and restoration from the very beginning. The pause is for your protection. It’s not a sign of weakness. It’s how you...
