Hey Reader, We’ve reached the final part of our When Mountains Don’t Move series. Over the past two Mondays, we’ve journeyed to Mount Sinai to experience God’s covenant in solitude and to Mount Carmel to see His power revealed in the midst of opposition. Today, we climb our last mountain together—one that takes us beyond the familiar into the breathtaking. On Mount Tabor, Jesus revealed His supernatural glory to a select few disciples, leaving them forever changed. This final mountain reminds us that some encounters with God are not just about learning who He is, but about experiencing His presence in a way that transforms us for the work ahead. "He was transfigured before them, and his clothes became radiant, intensely white, as no one on earth could bleach them" Mark 9:2-3 (ESV) Our final mountain reveals perhaps the most breathtaking aspect of God's nature, His supernatural glory. On Mount Tabor, Jesus took Peter, James, and John to witness His transfiguration. Mark 9:2-3 describes the moment: "He was transfigured before them, and his clothes became radiant, intensely white, as no one on earth could bleach them" (ESV). The guest list for this mountain experience is fascinating: Moses and Elijah appeared, conversing with Jesus. These weren't random appearances; both men had encountered God supernaturally on their own mountains. Mount Tabor represents seasons when God surrounds us with both newer and seasoned believers as He unveils supernatural dimensions of His nature. Notice the progression through our three mountains: Moses went up alone to receive covenant promises. Unbelievers and rebels surrounded Elijah to demonstrate God's power. Now the disciples are accompanied by both Jesus and these legendary saints for a supernatural encounter. Each mountain serves a different purpose in revealing God's character. Peter later reflected on this experience in 2 Peter 1:16-18, declaring they were "eyewitnesses of his majesty" (ESV). He understood that personal encounters with God's supernatural nature create the most powerful testimonies. God knew Peter would lead the early church, so He couldn't let Peter know Jesus only through miracles and teachings. Peter needed a transformative encounter with divine glory. The same principle applies today. There are seasons when God desires to reveal His supernatural nature to you, taking you beyond ordinary faith into extraordinary encounters with His glory. Mount Tabor experiences teach us that some encounters with Jesus can only happen at elevated places, both literally and spiritually. When you sense God calling you higher, beyond the familiar into the mysterious, He may be preparing you for a transformative mountain experience. These sacred elevations become launching points for ministry that will impact others. The mountain doesn't just change you, it equips you to testify of God's majesty with the authority that comes only from personal encounter. Reader, what season are you experiencing: Sinai's covenant establishment, Carmel's power demonstration, or Tabor's supernatural encounter? How is God revealing His nature to you? Let's Pray Together- Father, help me understand that not every mountain in my life is meant to be moved, but some are meant to reveal who You are. Give me eyes to see what You're doing in my current season and the courage to embrace whatever mountain experience You have for me. In Jesus' name, amen. What's Next? As we close this three-part journey, remember that not every mountain in your life is meant to be moved. Some are designed to reveal God’s covenant faithfulness, others to display His power, and still others to unveil His supernatural glory. Each mountain has its purpose in shaping your faith and drawing you closer to Him. On September 15th, we’ll begin a brand-new devotional series called Well Encounters, where we’ll trade the heights of the mountains for the stillness of the well. Together, we’ll explore how Jesus meets us in our shame, need, and brokenness—offering the living water that satisfies and transforms. Just as the mountains teach us about God’s nature, the wells will remind us of His nearness in the places we least expect.

Hey Reader, Welcome to Part Two of our When Mountains Don’t Move series. Last week, we looked at Mount Sinai and how God often reveals His covenant nature in the stillness of solitude. This week, we’re shifting from the quiet of the mountain top to the intensity of the crowd. Some mountains require us to stand alone, but others require us to stand among many—sometimes in the middle of open opposition. In today’s devotional, we’ll step onto Mount Carmel with Elijah and see how God uses these...
Hey Reader, I’m so excited to walk with you through our new three-part devotional series called When Mountains Don’t Move. And as we look ahead, mark your calendar: in September, we’ll begin our next Bible study on 1st and 2nd Thessalonians. It’s going...
