Hey Reader, These Weekend in the Word emails have quietly become some of my favorites to send. There’s something about intentionally preparing to pause. To sit with Jesus. To slow the swirl of the week and let the Word settle in. It helps me enter the weekend with purpose, and I pray it’s doing the same for you. This weekend, I’m looking forward to wrapping up the book of Job. It’s a book I’ve read many times, but this time, the Lord has been showing me something deeper—not just about Job’s suffering, but about the Church. I won’t give it all away just yet (hint hint, I plan to share more in a video soon), but when I walked my husband through what the Lord showed me and the Scriptures He gave me to interpret it, my 17-year-old yelled from her room, “Okay Mommy, that was good!” So you KNOW it was good! So here’s a thought to take into your weekend: What if the book of Job is less about suffering and more about the Church? What if the focus isn’t only on endurance, but also on a revelation of Jesus in His fullness and perfection? What if we asked a new question while we studied: Where is Jesus in this story? Allowing scripture interpret scripture meaning looking for scriptures that reveal what has been concealed. Not the easy, surface answer. Not just the takeaway we’ve heard before. But the deeper thread. The gospel thread. The one that draws us from lament to hope, from questions to clarity. Reader, this weekend, I’ll be sitting with those questions and more. And I’d love for you to do the same. As you open your Bible and slow down enough to hear clearly, ask the Holy Spirit: Where is Jesus in the text I’m reading? Let that question guide your heart. Let Scripture speak. Let Him meet you in the Word.
P.S. As you prepare your heart for a weekend in the Word, don’t forget to watch my latest teaching: One Thing I Wish I Knew Before Reading the Bible in a Year. It’s a powerful reminder to read not just for completion, but for connection—and it might shift the way you approach Scripture this weekend. |
