Do Whatever He Says Pt.2

Hey Reader,

Welcome to Week 2 of Do Whatever He Says. Last week, as we concluded our fast on Sunday, we were reminded that worship and intimacy with God are not separate from obedience; they actually fuel it. That is the heart behind this three-week Do Whatever He Says series. As our intimacy with Him deepens, our hearts become more responsive to His voice and more willing to do whatever He says.

In Week 1 of our Do Whatever He Says devotional series, we shifted our perspective from simply admiring the miracle to noticing the servants Jesus chose to involve.

This week, we are going deeper into what that partnership truly looks like. When Jesus invites us to serve, He is not asking us to create the miracle, only to participate in the process.

As you read today’s devotional, allow the Holy Spirit to gently reveal where you may be carrying pressure God never asked you to hold. There is freedom in understanding your role and trusting Jesus fully with His.

Do Whatever He Says Devotional (Pt. 2)

Can I be honest with you? Sometimes, I get caught up thinking I need to do something to make the miracle happen. Maybe you can relate – feeling the pressure to solve every problem, fix every situation, and make everything work out perfectly. But looking at those servants at the wedding in Cana, God showed me something powerful about our true role in His miraculous work.

Let's break down what these servants actually did. They filled water jars. They dipped out the water. They carried it to the master of ceremonies. Notice what they didn't do – they didn't turn the water into wine. That was all Jesus.

As servants of God, we have specific roles that help to reveal Jesus to those around us, and it looks much like what the servants did:

- We set up the miracle through our prayers, faith, and obedience

- We reveal the miracle through our testimony and witness

- But we don't perform the miracle – that's God's part

This is where I think many of us get stuck. We feel like everything depends on us, so if we don't make it happen, it won't happen at all. But those servants at the wedding didn't transform anything – they simply obeyed Jesus's instructions and watched Him do what only He could do. Nothing more and nothing less.

When we understand this truth, it takes so much pressure off. We’re not responsible for making the miracle happen; we just need to be faithful in our part of the process. Just like those servants filled the water jars in obedience, we do what God asks of us and trust Him with the results.

Pause and Ponder: What areas of your life are you trying to control instead of serving in obedience and letting God do the miracle?

P.S. Next week, I will be sharing something that will help you to do whatever God says. Be sure to check out next week's final email of this series.
